Speed Queen Washer Not Filling with Water? Try These Fixes

Your Speed Queen washer turns on, but no water comes into the tub? This is frustrating because the machine may sound ready while the clothes stay dry.
Luckily, closed faucets, bent hoses, or dirty inlet screens cause this problem in many homes. I always check the water supply before looking inside the washer.
Follow each solution below before you assume the washer needs a major repair.

How to Fix a Speed Queen Washer That Is Not Filling
Open both faucets and make sure the lid closes. Then check the inlet hoses and screens before asking a technician to test the valve.
Unplug the washer and close both faucets before removing a hose.
Open Both Water Faucets
Open each washer faucet as far as it will go. If the flow seems poor, check a nearby sink before blaming the washer.
A partly closed faucet are one of the easiest causes to miss. These check takes less than a minute.

If cold water enters but warm water does not, check why the Speed Queen washer is not heating water. Weak inlet flow can also explain detergent left in the Speed Queen drawer.
Make Sure the Lid Closes
Move clothes away from the edge and close the lid gently. Some washers will not fill when the lid or door lock does not close.
Clean detergent from the latch. A broken lock are a safety part and should not be bypassed.
Straighten the Inlet Hoses
Pull the washer forward slightly and make sure neither hose is bent or trapped. Replace a hose that is cracked, swollen, or leaking.
Do not stretch a short hose to reach the faucet. It may needs replacing with the correct length.

Clean the Inlet Screens
Close the faucets, disconnect power, and remove the hoses. Rinse dirt from the small screens where the hoses connect to the washer.
Do not push the screens deeper or damage them with a sharp tool. Clean screens mean the inlet valve should be checked next.
Check the Valve Only After the Supply
The inlet valve opens to let water into the washer. If the supply is good but no water enters, the valve or its control may be faulty.
There is several tests needed before replacing it. Ask a technician to confirm the cause, especially if the washer is under warranty.

Conclusion
Use these five checks when the Speed Queen tub remains empty:
- Open both water faucets
- Make sure the lid closes
- Straighten the inlet hoses
- Clean the inlet screens
- Have the inlet valve checked
